All images taken 22/06/08

There is something wonderful about growing your own food, especially the taste. You can’t beat home grown Strawberries I can tell you. This blog melarky is new to me. So bare with me.

This is a section of my lettuce patch. It is growing beautifully in a cold frame situated in my front garden. My wife and myself have had some good salads with these. But waiting on the tomato’s as i planted a little late but they are getting there. I’ve also grown some fresh parsley and chives which also chopped up adds great flavour to a salad. When I can grow my strawberries and not pick and eat straight away I will show you a picture as I’m very proud of my strawberries.

OK here is a few other pictures of what I’ve managed so far

1.Strawberries 2. Tomato’s 3. Chives 4. Parsley 5. Butternut Squash 6. Beans

The Strawberries have had a good run so far but there are hundreds of flowers coming so I thought I would have a go at Jam or maybe Wine!!!!

As you can see the Tomato plants are small, I may of left these too long before planting, well see.

The Chives which we us in our potato salad. Although its starting to dry out now, but I sowed from seed in Feb and by mid June we’ve had plenty of use out of it so I can’t complain.

Same with the Parsley sowed at the same time as Chives and they are delicious with salads and Spaghetti.

My Butternut Squash Didn’t start too well the first day planted out the slugs completely ate it down to the base, but by some small miracle it has grown up again, hence I’ve used a little help from the blue pellets.

My beans (look at picture with head slanted, still not worked out the images to well yet)
